Vaccine Science in the Context of COVID-19

The fast moving pace of COVID-19 science both from disease progression and treatments has been hard to keep up with. As nurses, we are well-positioned to advocate for science and safety. In this webinar, Dr Jessica Stokes-Parish (RN, PhD) and IPN Romy Blacklaw will present the safety processes, research, surveillance of adverse events (including data on safety so far) and difference between COVID-19 vaccines.

Talking about Vaccination: Workshop

Join Dr. Jessica Stokes-Parish (ICU Nurse and Educator) and Romy Blacklaw (Credentialed nurse immuniser) in this workshop on talking about vaccination. The COVID-19 vaccination is a scientific breakthrough; a culmination of decades of work and infrastructure to support novel vaccine development. But how do we, as nurses, talk about a topic that is fraught with emotion? In this webinar, Jess and Romy will discuss vaccine hesitancy, origins of misinformation and use practical case studies on how to discuss vaccines with empathy. This workshop has limited spaces and is rooted in empathy-based communication skills. The workshop would suit those that are having regular conversations at work around emotive topics - such as mass vaccination centres, general practice or other primary care.

“The conversations provided some answers that I did not have, and the template for a conversation was helpful” NSWNMA attendee

“I’ve learnt a new approach in answering challenging questions” QNMU attendee
