Critical Appraisal of Online Content

Determining Credibility

There is so much health noise out there that it is really hard to work out what is truth. What’s more is some content really LOOKS and SOUNDS like science - the words sound big, the person sounds like they know what they’re talking about and they have a qualification - but when you look in to it, the content is an imposter. So how do you determine truth from fiction? In this topic, I give you the tools to determine credibility on social media and other digital content.

The Science of Misinformation

We know that misinformation is rampant, but why is it rampant? Where does misinformation start and how does it continue? What’s the difference between fake news, misinformation and disinformation? How do I respond to misinformation in conversation and on social media? In this topic, I give you the science behind misinformation and the strategies to combat it.
